Russia will not “freeze” military operations in Ukraine without addressing the “deep causes” of the war, stated Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.
“As repeatedly stated by the Russian President Vladimir Putin, no ‘freeze’ is possible without addressing the deep causes of this crisis,” Galuzin declared in an interview given to the agency TASS, published Sunday evening.
The comments of the Russian official suggest that Moscow is not willing to support a mere cessation of hostilities without ensuring the fulfillment of its political and territorial demands.

At the same time, Galuzin accused the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky of “completely losing touch with reality” and “trying to escalate the conflict”.
Galuzin mentioned the “terrorist” attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure, including the facilities of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), which “primarily serves the interests of the Kazakhstani economy.”
“We hope that this will trigger an appropriate response from the international community, including the United States, which has influence over the regime in Kiev, and from European countries whose oil and gas companies are shareholders of the CPC,” said Galuzin.
