Russia lost more than 54,000 troops killed or seriously wounded in October, according to figures presented by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Kyiv says this is the highest monthly casualty toll since the invasion began and that losses are outpacing the Russian army’s ability to replace its troops, TVP World reports.
Ukraine’s Armed Forces say Russia can no longer replace the troops it is losing on the front lines. Russia suffered “record combat losses” in October, with more than 54,000 soldiers killed or seriously wounded, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday.
Figures released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine show that the number of Russian troops put out of action has reached record highs for both a single month and a single day since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
“In just one month, Russia lost 54,400 soldiers killed or seriously wounded. This is the highest monthly toll since the start of the full-scale war,” Zelensky wrote on the social media platform X, citing General Staff figures.
