A couple of Russian citizens, who also hold Israeli passports, were arrested at the airport in Tivat, Montenegro, after authorities discovered in their luggage 19 suitcases full of electronic equipment, devices that can be used for surveillance, and approximately a thousand condoms.
The two intended to board a flight to Tel Aviv, according to Antena 3. The security check revealed an unusual amount of IT equipment, GPS devices with microphones, radio signal detectors, surveillance cameras, computer components, and other equipment that raised suspicions about possible spying activities.
During the searches carried out in the apartments they were using, the police found one million euros and other equipment.
Following the arrest, investigators searched two apartments in Budva and Bar, believed to have been used by the couple. In the Budva residence, the police reportedly found almost one million euros, IT equipment, some still sealed, others already used, as well as medications. The search is said to have lasted over 12 hours, and the findings have reinforced suspicions about the activities of the two.
Aleksandr Mihailovici Kruglianski, aged 31, and Aleksandra Kruglianska, 42, were presented before a judge at the Kotor Court, who decided to place them in preventive detention for 30 days, citing the risk of them fleeing. Although investigators suspect that the found equipment could be used for surveillance, interception or detection of eavesdropping devices, the two are currently only being investigated for smuggling and money laundering.
According to information obtained by the Vijesti publication, the couple had tourist visas and had entered Montenegro several times in the past few months, where they would have lived temporarily. In addition to electronic equipment, the police confiscated over 26,000 euros, 1,150 Israeli shekels, and medications from the two. Sources cited by the local press specified that two of the suitcases contained medications and approximately a thousand condoms.
