Students in Russia should be presented with “chilling examples” of the consequences of involvement in activities considered subversive, including cases of teenagers sentenced to severe punishments. The proposal comes from Valeri Fadeev, the head of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights.
Fadeev argues that intimidating teenagers by presenting cases of “ruined destinies” could protect them from recruiters and involvement in illegal activities.
“We must drill it into their heads, including in the “Lessons about important things”, over and over again, until they are sick of it,” the official declared.
He asked that students be spoken to, including about teenagers who were convicted in Russia for terrorism.
Fadeev also proposes that prosecutors and investigators go to schools, dressed in uniform, to discuss directly and “severely” with students.
“They must be told directly: you will ruin your life and family,” stated the head of the Presidential Council for Human Rights.
