A former editor-in-chief of Sputnik Moldova used Claude to transform news, poll data, and social media posts from the opposition in Romania and the Republic of Moldova into Russian-language articles. These were published on the Telegram channel of Sputnik Moldova, as well as on RIA Novosti.

Subsequently, the materials were amplified through a network of Russian and Moldovan publications, to spread false or manipulative information. The same news was redistributed in different publications, thus creating the illusion of truthfulness.

The narratives also targeted Maia Sandu, and the propaganda activity was intensified ahead of the 2025 parliamentary elections, according to a report published by the American agency Anthrophic, writes realitatea.md.

Similar strategies have been used by the Russian propaganda machine in other Latin American or African states as well, the report states.

The Anthropic analysis also shows that an employee of a Russian state media institution used the American artificial intelligence system Claude to create content for live broadcasts, to create subtitles, write scripts, short titles, using information published by Russian news agencies, special services, and the Ministry of Defense.
