At the Technical University of Petroleum in Ufa, one of the main training centers in the oil and gas sector in Russia, students were encouraged to bring friends and relatives to sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, writes the independent publication “Groza”.
According to a student quoted by the source, the message was conveyed in an internal chat of the university. From the content, it appears that it is about unmanned systems troops, where authorities have begun to recruit students due to the decreasing number of contractors and the increasing losses of the Russian army in Ukraine.
“If an acquaintance, friend, brother, or any other person you know wishes to sign a contract, they can do so through our university,” the message states.
The students were explained that interested individuals can be enrolled in additional education programs or even formally employed within the university. Those who sign the contract through the institution are expected to receive an additional payment of about 500,000 rubles (approximately 5,000 euros), in addition to the regional bonus, which from January 1, 2026, amounts to 1 million rubles (approximately 10,000 euros).
Additionally, benefits are also promised for students. Those who study with a fee could switch to budgeted places after returning from service, regardless of specialization. According to the message, this would be possible even in the case of programs where there are no fee-free places, the university would cover the costs.
For more information, the students were directed to the deputy director in charge of youth policy within the institute.
