The Deputy Director of the “Russian Helicopters” holding, Vadim Ligai, has purchased a luxury Bentley Bentayga SUV, worth approximately $307,000, circumventing the restrictions imposed by sanctions. The car was imported into Russia in May 2024 through a chain of intermediaries from Belarus and Turkey, according to an investigation conducted by TriTrace Investigations.
The delivery documents indicate the buyer as the “Start” factory in Kazan, specialized in the production of adhesives for submarines, bulletproof vests, and drones. Officially, the sale was made outside of Russia, but the delivery conditions clearly specified that the final destination is Russian territory.
The case is part of a larger scheme of parallel import of luxury cars into Russia, which emerged after the imposition of sanctions. According to the investigation, since March 2022, at least 214 luxury cars – Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Maserati – have been introduced into Russia, with a total value of over $75 million.
