“Polish Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorski has condemned Hungary’s blocking of sanctions against Russia, accusing Budapest of lacking moral clarity, following this morning’s meeting of foreign ministers of member states in Luxembourg, according to Antena3 CNN news, citing AP.

“Many ministers have emphasized this in their statements, but we know that we have a country, Hungary, which does not have the moral clarity that we have due to Putin’s attacks. Because he talks about peace, but bombs civilians, kills children. Peace, but bombs civilians, kills children. The victim agrees to a ceasefire, but he either escalates conditions or escalates attacks. This provides us with moral clarity, but it seems that not all countries follow these principles. The Polish presidency will try? Just to ask about this. We have once again appealed to Hungary to lift its veto on releasing nearly 7 billion euros from the European Peace Fund. And also to stop vetoing the opening of the first cluster of negotiations, but it’s like talking to a brick wall,” said Polish Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorski.

Hungary wants eight people to be removed from the European Union’s sanctions list against Russia and to receive new guarantees regarding talks on the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, before agreeing to renew these sanctions, according to European diplomats quoted by Reuters on Tuesday, according to Agerpres.

Earlier this month, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna called on Europeans to prepare for a new blockade caused by Hungary regarding sanctions against Russia and showed how Viktor Orban can be prevented from sabotaging Brussels’ decisions in favor of Moscow, writes the German publication Der Spiegel.

“Let’s be honest: Hungary is a very weak country playing on Putin’s team, not on our European team,” Tsahkna said in an interview on the sidelines of the NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Brussels at the beginning of April.”
