The Russian language will be banned, the pension will be 800 lei – these are the scare tactics launched at a round table in Tiraspol, where they talked about “forced reintegration”.

Nicolai Buceațki, presented by the regional press as a “journalist”, “defender of Transnistria” and director of a so-called human rights protection fund, launched several manipulative messages during the event. Subsequently, the journalists from Tiraspol picked up his narratives.

Buceațki said that aid and pensions from Russia will no longer come. At the same time, he said that Russian-language schools will be closed, and officials who do not know Romanian will be dismissed, writes realitatea.md.

The current minimum pension constitutes over 3200 lei in the Republic of Moldova, for people with a full contribution period. Citizens who have not accumulated it and have not paid contributions receive a state allowance, worth 50% of this amount, i.e. around 1600 lei, according to Article 13 of the Law on Social Allocations.

Schools and kindergartens teaching in Russian and other minority languages operate within the territory of the Republic of Moldova, within the capabilities of the authorities. Although the language of study in the country is Romanian, according to Article 10 of the Education Code, in areas traditionally inhabited or substantially populated by certain ethnic groups, if there is sufficient demand, the state ensures “that persons belonging to these minorities benefit from appropriate conditions to learn their minority language or to receive an education in this language at the level of compulsory education.”

At the same time, the Education Code guarantees the citizens of the Republic of Moldova the development of skills for efficient communication in Romanian, in the languages of national minorities, and in at least two internationally spoken languages.
