The German police suspect a new act of sabotage, following the discovery of a suspicious object at an electrical substation in Dormagen, between Cologne and Düsseldorf, reports focus.de. Investigators have received a claim letter mentioning other suspicious cases – already known to the public – from North Rhine-Westphalia and Brandenburg, a spokesperson for the Cologne police told the German press agency dpa.

The Dormagen police discovered three launching devices on the edge of a country road, a few hundred meters away from the Dormagen-Gohr electrical substation. They were located exactly under the high-voltage lines of the RWE power plant operator.
The network operator Amprion checked the lines with the help of drones at dawn, in order to detect any possible damages, an Amprion employee told FOCUS online. It seems that no damages occurred, a fact also confirmed by the police in Cologne. A man from Gevelsberg is being sought by the police.
In the claim letter for the possible act of sabotage at Dormagen in the possession of the investigators, several deeds committed in North Rhine-Westphalia and Brandenburg are mentioned. It is assumed that the author is a man from Gevelsberg, in the Ennepe-Ruhr district. An intense search for him is currently underway. “It must first be checked whether it is indeed a suspect or just a hoax,” emphasized the police spokesperson.
The police are inspecting a transformer station near the city of Aachen.
Following the sabotage attempt at a transformer station in Dormagen, the police are now specifically checking another transformer station in Weisweiler, near Aachen, reports focus.de. There is a claim letter mentioning another action at that location, a police spokesperson said. Intervention forces are on the scene. It is being checked whether in Weisweiler there are also “suspicious launching devices”, like those found in other places these days. Their aim was to cause disruptions in the electricity supply.
Major police operation at the Ganderkesee substation
Another incident has occurred at an electric substation. This time, it’s about the substation in Ganderkesee, near Oldenburg. The police are talking about “suspicious circumstances” and have cordoned off the area, reports focus.de. The police are on the scene with a large force, and a police helicopter is patrolling the area, reports the Kreiszeitung newspaper. In addition, the area around the facility has been cordified over a wide radius. The Delmenhorst police have since confirmed the intervention for NDR. “Something was found that required police intervention,” said a police spokesperson. It is not yet known what exactly triggered the intervention. It is also not clear at all whether there was any material damage.
