The European Union is considering several options to unblock negotiations on the 21st package of sanctions against Russia, after Greece opposed the proposed restrictions on the export of Russian liquefied natural gas to third countries, reports Bloomberg.
According to the agency’s sources, Brussels is discussing three scenarios: a 24-month delay of the new restrictions, the complete removal of the disputed measure, or the withdrawal of the entire sanctions package. Another option being considered is allowing the execution of already existing contracts.
In parallel, member states are considering extending the price ceiling for Russian oil even if there will be no agreement on the entire package.
Last week, the European Union decided to temporarily maintain the price cap at 44.10 dollars per barrel until July 23, thus providing more time for negotiations on new sanctions.
