Teachers from the Transbaikal region in Russia have once again complained about delays in the payment of their salaries and bonuses. According to the portal Chita.ru, the problems affect technical colleges in the region’s capital, Chita, as well as schools in the Mogocea district.
According to a complaint received by the editorial office, the salaries of the employees of the colleges in Chita have been delayed since the beginning of the year.
“Employees of the Transbaikal Transport Technical College were told they would not receive their salary for February, even though they should have already received an advance for March… Spend the holidays as you can, without gifts for spouses, children or parents. It’s total chaos, nobody cares about teachers,” wrote the author of the complaint.
According to him, the teachers “left to fend for themselves” currently do not have money “even for food”.
A teacher from the city of Mogocea stated that teaching staff from district schools and other localities in the region have not received any payment for the tutorship related to January and were left without bonuses before March 8. These payments appear registered in the salary slips, but the money was not actually transferred, she explained.
“They should have been transferred on February 14. The advance for February was delayed by eight days, and the payment for tutorship – which should already be paid for February – was not received even for January,” said the teacher.
The problems with the payment of teachers’ salaries in Transbaikal, like in many other regions of Russia, are aggravated by the region’s record budget deficit over the last decade. In December, the authorities approved a budget with a deficit of 12.2 billion rubles, with total expenses of 174.5 billion.
