The car of a Russian lieutenant colonel was blown up in Petersburg on August 27, around 10:00 AM. The explosion took place in an area where the Ministry of Defense has been providing housing since 2010 for army employees holding medium and high-ranking positions.
The explosion occurred near a supermarket. The man died on the spot, and his wife was hospitalized, according to realitatea.md, citing Russian media. Preliminarily, the victims of the explosion suffered severe leg injuries.
The name of the military man has not been revealed yet, but the Russian press writes that he would be a military pilot. The local publication Fontanka reported that the explosion would have been caused by an improvised explosive device.
The Russian investigation committee has initiated a criminal case on the fact of the attack. Special services intervene at the scene and do not allow access to the area.
