France will tighten, from July 15, the rules for submitting Schengen visa applications by Russian citizens.

According to the operator VFS Global, files will no longer be able to be submitted through intermediaries, with the exception of close relatives. Documents can only be presented by the applicant or, in certain cases, by parents, children, or spouses, provided that documents proving the degree of kinship are presented and only if the applicant has registered their biometric data in the last 59 months.

Thus, France becomes the fourth state in the European Union to tighten, recently, the rules on granting visas to Russian citizens.

Previously, Spain and Italy extended the deadline for reviewing applications, while Hungary suspended the acceptance of files in several visa centers in Russia.
