The French intelligence services consider that the ultra-leftist and radical extreme left formations were at the forefront of the violence that broke out in France. At the same time, security officers assert that these parties are not responsible for the looting committed during the mass disorders.

According to the special services in Paris, the far-left, whose number of known activists is about 5000, is composed of “small radical and violent groups, operating outside the democratic and republican sphere.”

Under the term “radical far-left”, the services describe activists who carry out violent actions on the ground, according to a well-defined method, writes Agerpres. One of the techniques is the formation of small, mobile groups for unauthorized demonstrations.

The intelligence services consider them responsible for the attacks on law enforcement and state symbols, and with reference to robberies, they claim that there was a mix of individuals who responded to calls on social networks or who come from disadvantaged neighborhoods. The ultimate goal would have been the overthrow of state institutions.
