A summit between Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Volodymyr Zelensky is possible only to sanction the already agreed deals, the achievement of which is an extremely complicated process, and by no means a “primitive transaction”. The statement belongs to the spokesperson of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, writes the agency TASS.
“A Putin-Trump-Zelensky summit has been proposed for a long time, and you know well the position of our head of state: such a meeting is only possible to consecrate agreements. And these agreements are by no means a primitive transaction, but a very complex regulation process, composed of a huge number of details,” the Kremlin representative declared.
Dmitri Peskov also says that there is no point for the presidents to meet to discuss all these; at such a level, agreements can only be finalized. However, it is precisely the real regulation process that the Kiev party does not want to deal with, he asserts.
Peskov’s statements come after the Axios portal announced, citing its own sources, that CIA Director John Ratcliffe, during a secret visit to Moscow at the beginning of this week, raised the issue of organizing a trilateral meeting between Russia, the USA, and Ukraine.
According to the two sources informed about the discussions, it would be the first time a CIA director personally involves himself in the diplomatic efforts to unblock the position of the parties and to pave the way for an agreement between Russia and Ukraine. The visit would have aimed, among other things, to test whether the heads of Russian intelligence services could contribute to persuading Putin to accept the resumption of negotiations mediated by the United States.
Ratcliffe was in Moscow on Tuesday, August 25, where he met with his Russian counterparts – Sergei Naryshkin, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), and Alexander Bortnikov, the director of the FSB. Naryshkin confirmed the meeting.
