Russians who are military subjects are being denied the processing of foreign passports. The measure seems to be coordinated by the military commissariats.
A case of this kind was documented by the non-governmental organization “School of Recruits,” writes The Moscow Times. According to the representatives of the institution, Constantin, a 25-year-old man, requested the release of the document, and in response received a notification that he was denied, due to temporary restrictions on leaving the country, imposed by the military commissariat.
A reader from Moscow of the publication “Mozhem Obyasnity” (Eng. trans: “We Can Explain”) reported that he also found himself in such a situation. The officials responsible for issuing the passport suggested he apply for the document in six months. The man claims that other acquaintances of his, military personnel, have experienced the same.
Another person reported delays in the document finalization process. Although they submitted the application in June, the status of the request was changed to “suspended”. Representatives of Russian travel agencies likewise complain about delays in the process of issuing foreign passports.
Russians are facing issues in obtaining passports amid rumors of a new wave of mobilization following the elections of the State Duma of Russia. The Kremlin would intend to enlist up to 400,000 soldiers and put pressure for the signing of contracts, so as to supplement its positions on the front.
The Russian presidential administration denies this information and maintains that the population voluntarily decides to go to war in Ukraine.
