“The comments made by American President Donald Trump regarding his anger towards Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin ‘are not exact quotations,’ Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov affirmed on Monday, after the White House leader threatened sanctions if Russia does not commit to efforts to end the war in Ukraine. However, according to Peskov, there is still nothing concrete in the Russian-American dialogue on the resolution of this conflict, as reported by EFE agency through Agerpres.

“Some of these statements are paraphrases, they are not exact quotes. There have been several different declarations,” remarked the Kremlin’s spokesperson at his daily press conference.

In an interview with NBC on Sunday, Trump stated that he became angry when Putin criticized the legitimacy of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and threatened new tariffs of 25% to 50% to be imposed by the US on countries that purchase Russian oil, if Russia does not engage in reaching an agreement to end the war in Ukraine.
Trump’s threat mentioned “secondary tariffs on oil, on all the oil coming out of Russia,” which “would mean that if you buy oil from Russia, you can’t do business in the United States.” Commenting on Trump’s statement, the Kremlin spokesperson emphasized that there is nothing concrete yet in the Russian-American dialogue on ending the war in Ukraine.

“We are working on implementing ideas related to resolving the (conflict) in Ukraine. This activity is ongoing. There are no concrete details that we can or need to inform (about),” Peskov indicated.
