Europe “fully supports” the actions of the United States in Iran, declared on Monday the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, in an interview given to BBC News. The statements come against the backdrop of escalating conflict in the Middle East and recent attacks on Iran.

The Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, declared on Monday, in an interview given to BBC News, that Europe “fully supports” the actions of the US in Iran.

The statements come against the backdrop of intensifying conflict in the Middle East, following the attacks launched by the United States and Israel on targets in Iran, at the end of last week.

Iran, a “threat” to the region and Europe

Rutte emphasized that Tehran represents a “threat” not only to Israel, but also to Europe and the entire region. In this context, he pointed out that European states are “intensifying their efforts” in response to recent developments.

When asked if he had prior knowledge of the joint plans of the US and Israel regarding the attacks on Iran, the head of NATO avoided a direct answer. However, he mentioned that he had “many conversations” with American officials and emphasized that Washington and NATO “closely coordinate” their actions.
