The Polish Public Television (TVP) has launched news in Romanian for the Republic of Moldova, focusing on Russian disinformation and the benefits of Chisinau’s accession to the European Union as the country awaits the opening of negotiations.
On Monday, February 2, TVP launched a Romanian version of its news service dedicated to the Republic of Moldova. This comes after in August 2025 it launched the service “Vot Tak” (“That’s right. Moldova”), that is, news in Russian with the aim of addressing the realities of the post-Soviet region and counteracting the narratives of Kremlin propaganda. Although Russian is widely spoken in the Republic of Moldova, the majority of Moldovans speak Romanian (the official language), according to the Ukrainian publication “Kyiv Post”.
“The popularity of the program has led us to address Moldovans in their mother tongue. Vot Tak. Moldova is not just a news service. We expose Russian disinformation, we combat the Russian narrative in politics, but also, for example, on historical topics, and we show the benefits of Moldova’s accession to the European Union,” said editorial director Jerzy Sałodki in a press release.
The Moldovan service in Romanian will be independent of the one in Russian and will be presented by Ekaterina Tanasiichuk, a Moldovan native from the city of Balti, who moved to Warsaw last month to launch the Romanian language site.
“My guests will be experts and politicians. We will demonstrate the mechanisms of propaganda, we will present news and we will also discuss how Poland is involved and assists in democratic processes,” she stated.
The program will also include information related to the accession process, as well as examples of cooperation with European Union member states.
