The legislative proposal initiated by the parliamentary group S.O.S., regarding the union of Romania with the Republic of Moldova, was tacitly adopted by the Chamber of Deputies. The project is considered approved, as the deadline for conducting debates and the final vote has been exceeded.
According to the document, “The Parliament of Romania reiterates its commitment to the provisions of the Final Act of the CSCE Conference in Helsinki, which allows for the possibility of changing borders through peaceful, diplomatic means. The Parliament of Romania decides on the unification of Romania with the Republic of Moldova”.
The Bucharest government is empowered to urgently begin negotiations with the authorities in Chisinau for the finalization of the union, reports Agerpres.
“After the adoption of this law and its publication in the Official Gazette, the competent international authorities, the Government of the Republic of Moldova, USA, NATO, UN, EU, will be notified for the implementation of the law’s provisions”, the document further states.
The project was submitted to the Chamber of Deputies on April 14th. The Senate is the decision-making body and will ultimately decide whether to adopt the document.
