Damage has been discovered on the railway leading to Ukraine. The railway malfunction in the area of the city of Żychin was discovered by the train mechanic, who managed to brake, the Polish police informed. At the time of the incident, there were two passengers and several crew members on the train, none of whom were injured as a result of the emergency braking.
As the police mentioned, train traffic on the line with the damaged section was stopped, but continued on the neighboring line. The Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, did not rule out the possibility that the railway damage could have been caused by an act of sabotage.
“I am in constant contact with the interior minister regarding the railway damage on the Demblin – Warsaw line. It could possibly be an act of sabotage. <…> The competent services are conducting an investigation,” Tusk wrote on his Facebook page.
The Dorohoi – Yagodin Polish-Ukrainian border crossing point is located on the damaged railway line. Also, this line crosses the city of Rzeszów, the main logistic hub for the delivery of Western weapons to Ukraine, reports the Warsaw press.
Previously, Poland has repeatedly accused Moscow of spying activities within the country. In Warsaw, it was noted that its role in supplying weapons to Ukraine has made the country a target for spies and saboteurs from Russia. In July, Tusk announced the arrest in the country of 32 people suspected of collaborating with Russian secret services.
“Among them are Poles, Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, and a Colombian citizen. The list does not stop here,” the Polish prime minister stated. In October, he announced the detention of another eight people suspected of preparing acts of sabotage. Tusk ordered “even more intense and energetic measures” to prevent risks and catch “all those who attack the Polish state using Russian means.”
