Moscow is Russia, therefore drones flying over the Russian capital could lead to civil unrest, something that Putin is very much afraid of, said Garry Kasparov.
The transfer of the war to Moscow could signify the beginning of the end for the current regime in Russia. The Russian opponent expressed his opinion on the situation in Russia during the broadcast of “Free Russia Forum” aired on YouTube.
“According to Ukrainian standards, if we look at what is happening in Kiev and other cities, this attack on Moscow is a warm-up. But the fact that the war has reached Moscow has simply caused a shock reaction among the people. How is it possible for us to be bombed? Obviously, this is what Putin fears the most. In Russia, however, the war against other countries, the mass killing of Ukrainians, Africans, and Syrians, hardly bothers anyone. And why are we being bombed? The complaint against the tsar-dictator is related to the fact that the war is not going as we expected. I believe that if this situation persists or worsens, then this is precisely the creation of that critical mass”, declared the leader of the Russian opposition.
Kasparov also emphasized an important nuance:
“Overall, Moscow has been the clear beneficiary of the war. The war in Ukraine is a very profitable business. It is clear that the huge sums of money gathered from this war – as the war has created a parallel underground economy (sanction evasion, money laundering) – are naturally tied to Moscow and it seems that all of this is starting to change now. In short, the situation has started to change, and this should concern Putin the most. The question arises: what will prompt Putin to do this: to conclude a treaty or to escalate? For me, the answer is obvious: escalation, of course”.
Previously, Kasparov also suggested to the Ukrainians how to deliver a “triple blow” to Putin and Russia with a single move.
