The robot Alisa, created by Yandex and incorporated into the FSB’s MAX application, suggests users to use it in other messaging applications such as Telegram, Signal, or WhatsApp. The system based on artificial intelligence warned that user data could be transmitted to authorities.

When asked about the security of MAX, Alisa listed the vulnerabilities. According to the robot, the application does not have end-to-end encryption, and user data can be transferred even to VK servers.

“The messaging service collects IP addresses, activity time, contacts, device and browser type, provider information, and other metadata. These data can be transferred to third parties, including government agencies, upon legal request (for example, a court order or a justified request from authorized agencies),” warns Alisa.

The robot recommends using a separate smartphone for MAX, without the app being installed on the main device, with banking apps, confidential chats, and other personal data that the user wishes to protect, writes Meduza.

If users still need to use MAX, Alisa recommended using the Messenger application on the browser, disabling the application’s permanent access to location, contacts, microphone, and camera.
