The Russian Federation’s Embassy in Bucharest has responded with a firm message after its ambassador, Vladimir Lipaev, was confronted on the issue of drones recently shot down in Romania and was presented with fragments of a drone destroyed on our country’s territory at the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s headquarters.
The Russian ambassador was summoned earlier in the day to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “as a firm response to the repeated violations of Romania’s airspace from July 24 – 26, a period during which the Romanian Army shot down three drones that had unauthorizedly penetrated national territory.”
“The diplomat categorically rejected the unfounded accusations against Russia, emphasizing that this is a new propagandistic staging intended to prevent the continuation of strikes on Ukraine’s port infrastructure in the Black Sea and on the Danube, used by NATO for the delivery of military cargo and weapons,” the Embassy of the Russian Federation conveyed in a statement published on the Facebook page of the diplomatic representation.
What does the Russian Embassy claim about the meeting
“No evidence was presented to attest to the affiliation of the drones with Russia. No answers were provided to any of the questions regarding flight technical parameters,” the embassy clarified regarding the meeting between Lipaev and the representatives of Romanian diplomacy.
Also, during the meeting, Ambassador Lipaev emphasized that Russia has never sent and does not send unmanned combat aerial vehicles against targets located on Romanian territory, and “all speculations on this topic, regardless of who they come from, are completely unfounded.”
Threat to Romania
“The Romanian side’s attention was drawn to the fact that supporting, in any form, the terrorist regime in Kiev is ‘unacceptable and intolerable’, leading to the prolongation of the conflict and further loss of human lives,” the Russian Embassy further states in the communique.
At the same time, the head of the diplomatic mission – Ambassador Lipaev – “warned of the danger of a further escalation of confrontation with Russia and attempts at cross-border actions by the Romanian air defense, which would mean the direct involvement of Romania in combat actions on the territory of Ukraine,” according to the Embassy.
The message concludes with a threat concerning possible retaliatory measures against the Romanian side.
“The unjustified expulsion of the employee of the Russian Federation Embassy will not go unanswered,” concluded the Russian Embassy.
