Polish fighter jets have intercepted two more Russian fighter jets and a reconnaissance aircraft off the coast of the Baltic Sea, the Polish defense minister announced on Thursday. The incident marks the third consecutive day that Russian military aircraft have been escorted away from Poland’s maritime borders.
“The Russians are testing our air defense systems again,” wrote the Minister of Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, on the X platform Thursday afternoon.
He specified that, after the Polish planes were urgently mobilized due to the presence of two Russian multifunctional Su-30 fighter planes over the Baltic Sea, they were redirected towards an IL-20 reconnaissance plane located 30 kilometers from the coast.
Just like in the two previous incidents, on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Russian planes did not violate Polish airspace, the minister affirmed.
