Belarus has no plans to go to war against Ukraine, stated Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on Thursday, after Ukrainian authorities raised an alarm that Minsk might be drawn into the war led by Russia on Ukrainian territory.

“Regarding the statements of Ukrainians about the possible entry of Belarus into the war, I simply tell you that we will only get involved in one case: if an aggression is committed against our territory”, stated Lukashenko, quoted by the state agency Belta.

He added that Minsk “has no intention of entering the war in Ukraine” and stated that “there is no need for such a thing”.

Lukashenko – who supervised on Thursday, together with the Russian president, Vladimir Putin – via videoconference – the first joint exercises using tactical-strategic nuclear weapons – stated that he is ready to meet at any moment with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, to discuss bilateral relations, reports Agerpres.

\”I am willing to meet him anywhere – in Ukraine, in Belarus – and discuss the issues in bilateral relations,\” he stated.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced on Thursday the deployment of unprecedented joint operations “without precedent” with the Ukrainian army at the border with Belarus, focused on increasing surveillance in the area to intercept possible infiltrations of spy and saboteur groups from the neighboring country, which, as President Volodimir Zelenski recently stated, is under pressure from Moscow with the idea of drawing it into the war in Ukraine.
