In 2025, Russia imported 493,800 second-hand cars, announced the general director of the analytical agency “Avtostat”, Sergey Tselikov. This is the largest volume recorded since the late ’90s and 25% more than in 2024. If we also add the 8,500 second-hand light commercial vehicles, the total exceeds half a million units, he specified.
Tselikov mentioned that such a volume of used cars was only recorded in the 1990s, when, “on the wave of the first massive motorization and in the absence of customs barriers, half a million cars were imported in just a few years”.
In the current context, he argues, relatively recent second-hand cars (up to five years old) have become a real alternative to new Chinese models. The top 3 most imported brands are:
Toyota – 19.7%
Honda – 15.8%
BMW – 9.3%
