The so-called supreme soviet of Tiraspol has adopted an address to the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu. The separatist officials request the abandonment of the initiative that stipulates the collection of VAT and excise duties from companies in the Transnistrian region.

The so-called “deputies” argue that the implementation of measures will lead to the deterioration of the socio-economic situation and will provoke a “humanitarian crisis” on the left bank of the Dniester, reports newsmaker.md. The so-called local legislative body declares itself “worried” about the Parliament’s initiative to eliminate tax benefits on imports for companies in the Transnistrian region.

“These destructive actions are undertaken against the backdrop of a lack of sustainable interaction between the parties involved in the regulatory process, both at the level of authorized representatives and at the parliamentary level, which considerably limits the possibility of taking into account objective realities and developing coordinated and balanced solutions. (…)“

The current situation is exacerbated by the unstable international context, which generates additional financial, commercial, and logistical risks for most sectors of the national economy. Under these circumstances, the introduction of additional tasks by the Moldovan side will inevitably lead to an increase in consumer prices, exacerbation of inflationary processes, collapse of production processes, and will inevitably cause a critical deterioration of the socio-economic situation of the citizens and a humanitarian crisis in Transnistria“, it is stated in the address.

The authorities in Chisinau previously announced that they will create a special Convergence Fund for the implementation of projects on the left bank of the Dniester. The money obtained from the collection of VAT and excise duties from entrepreneurs in the Transnistrian region would be directed there. Tiraspol does not support even this intention of the constitutional administration.
