The use of the term “Transnistria” in any language will be sanctioned in the left bank of the Dniester. An initiative in this regard has been registered in the so-called supreme soviet of Tiraspol.
The alleged draft law was registered based on the disposition of the region’s leader, Vadim Krasnoselski, on June 1, reports IPN. Currently, responsibility is provided only for the use of this term in Russian.
The authors of the initiative propose extending the ban to all languages.
For individuals, a fine ranging from 210 to 420 Transnistrian rubles (approximately 13-26 dollars) or administrative arrest up to 15 days is provided, if the so-called regulation will be violated. Persons with responsibility roles risk a fine between 210 and 840 rubles (13-52 dollars), and legal entities — between 2100 and 10,500 rubles (130-652 dollars).
The prohibition on the use of the name “Transnistria” is valid on the left bank of the Dniester since September 2024. Then, the self-proclaimed administration in Tiraspol equated the use of this term with the manifestation of Nazism.
