The unrecognized authorities in the Transnistrian region have decided to extend the state of emergency in the economy for another 30 days. The so-called Supreme Soviet has approved the decree signed by Vadim Krasnoselski, and the document will come into effect six hours after publication.
According to the separatist administration, the measure is justified by the reduction in industrial production and the severe economic crisis facing the region. The special regime will allow the authorities to quickly adopt anti-crisis measures, including the rational use of energy resources and limiting their export. Also, financial resources can be prioritized for the necessary measures to protect the life and health of the population, as well as to ensure the transportation and distribution of natural gas and other energy resources throughout the region.
The state of emergency in the economy was first introduced in December 2024, against the backdrop of the risk of interruption of natural gas supplies, according to bani.md. After the outbreak of the energy crisis in January 2025, it was repeatedly extended.
A worsening of the situation occurred in March 2026, when the gas supply to the region was affected again. The administration in Tiraspol maintains that the reduction in gas deliveries to Europe, caused by the conflict in the Middle East, also influenced the supply to the Transnistrian region, which receives gas from the European direction following the cessation of transit through Ukraine.
The current decision represents a new extension of the special regime, which, after its reintroduction in December 2025, is extended every 30 days.
