Russia is preparing for the war in Ukraine to last at least another four years. At least that’s what a Bloomberg analysis suggests.
Journalists have reached a conclusion after analyzing Moscow’s expenditure planning. This indicates that there are record amounts allocated for armament, and the Kremlin has abandoned plans to reduce military budgets.
This change represents one of the clearest indications so far about how deep the conflict has become, even against the backdrop of rising tensions over the economy and public finances.
Additionally, the publication does not rule out that Moscow will try to intensify pressure on Europe, as Putin is trying to discourage ongoing support for Ukraine.
The military expenditures forecasted for next year, amounting to 205 billion dollars, would represent an annual increase of over 40% compared to the amounts planned for this year, writes news.ro.
This trajectory represents a sharp change from the situation a year ago, when Moscow intended to moderate the increase in military spending, in an attempt to reduce the budget deficit and replenish the reserves exhausted during the war.
