Ukrainian interceptor drones are already capable of autonomously shooting down Shahed-type aircraft. The Kiev army is thus expanding such cutting-edge technological solutions, said Defense Minister Mihail Fedorov.
According to the official, the operator sees the movement of the targets in real time, selects them, and transmits the strike command. Then, the system independently guides the drone towards the target, recognizes it, and focuses on its destruction.
Such technologies allow a quicker response to massive attacks and more efficient protection of Ukrainian cities, Fedorov believes, reports Mediafax.
The system was designed with the support of Brave 1 – a military invocation project, intended for defense systems. It was created, implemented, and tested on the battlefield in less than a year.
According to Fedorov, Ukrainian specialists are currently implementing a new level of “small-scale” aerial defense, through which interception drones can be controlled from thousands of kilometers away, and over 10 manufacturers are already integrating their solutions into their systems. Concurrently, experts from Kiev are working on creating inexpensive interceptor missiles to combat Shahed-type drones and are already testing some solutions.
It has also been reported that Ukraine is implementing a new level of “small-scale” air defense – now interceptor drones can be controlled from a distance of thousands of kilometers, and over 10 manufacturers have already integrated this solution into their systems.
