The connectivity of SpaceX’s Starlink/Starshield satellite network remains limited “in several sectors of the front” in Ukraine, complicating efforts to intercept Russian drones, expressed regret on Monday by Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, reports AFP, quoted by Agerpres.
“Unfortunately, we have found that the equipment no longer operates at speeds of 130 to 161 km/h in several sectors of the front,” Zelenski said, adding that “this slows down our logistics on the front and limits the use of several types of drones,” including those capable of intercepting Russian reaction drones, which can reach speeds of up to 600 km/h.
“This issue must be raised again today with our partners at all levels: speed is essential when it comes to protecting lives,” he emphasized in a Facebook post.
Last week, Kiev accused Washington of deliberately limiting the speeds at which Elon Musk’s SpaceX satellite network can be used efficiently, after US President Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries.
Ukraine uses the SpaceX system for battlefield communications, medium-range attacks against territories occupied by Russia, and interceptor drones. It also uses the civilian Starlink system, but not for military operations.
