Ukrainian intelligence officers managed to launch rocket launchers into space twice during the war. This was done during the execution of combat missions, not as experiments.
The information was presented by Fedir Venislavski, a member of the parliamentary committee for national security, defense and intelligence, in an interview given to RBC-Ukraine.
High-altitude launches in wartime conditions
During the second launch, the rocket carrier was raised to an altitude of 204 kilometers, says Fedir Venislavski.
The official described the situation as an “unprecedented” one for a country involved in a large-scale war.
He added that Ukraine has systems capable of striking targets at distances of up to 500 km, at hypersonic speeds, used in special operations. The technical and operational details have not been made public.
Aerial launch — a regional premiere
Another unique operation carried out by Ukrainian intelligence officers was the launch of a missile carrier from a transport aircraft at an altitude of 8,000 meters. Such a missile carrier can also be used for launching various types of equipment and spacecraft into orbit, he emphasized.
The official asserts that such an achievement would represent a premiere for Europe and only the second instance of this kind globally, following experiments conducted by the United States in the 1970s.
