The United Kingdom will provide support of 243 million euros for Urenco to supply enriched uranium to the Ukrainian company Energoatom, based on an agreement reached by Keir Starmer and Volodimir Zelenski last week.

In addition, the British government has adopted a series of new sanctions. One of them expands to over 600 the number of ships considered to be part of the phantom fleet, which transports oil or liquefied natural gas. The restrictions target a network associated with the Russian government that is allegedly involved in the covert acquisition of Western technologies for the military, as well as several suppliers from third countries who assist in the illegal transfer of funds internationally.

“Russia’s aggression threatens not only Ukraine, but the security of all of Europe. That’s why the United Kingdom is making its presence felt – suffocating the revenues that fuel Putin’s war and providing Ukraine with power in the winters to come. We will stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes, and this announcement reinforces that. Putin should withdraw his tanks, put an end to the barbaric attacks, and come to the negotiating table”, declared the British Prime Minister.

The pressure on Russia was also highlighted by the military operation carried out by British forces on Sunday, when the Smyrtos ship, considered part of the ghost fleet, was intercepted in the English Channel.
