US Vice President, JD Vance, announced that the American navy has lifted the blockade imposed in the Strait of Hormuz and allowed access for dozens of commercial ships into Iranian ports, reports Associated Press.
Vance’s announcement was made during a press conference at the White House.
According to the Vice President of the USA, over 12.5 million barrels were transported through the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday evening.
“Therefore, on the military side, we fulfill our part of the obligation,” JD Vance said.
On Tuesday, June 16, two oil tankers left Iran and passed through the American naval blockade without being stopped. The two ships were carrying a total of 3.8 million barrels of Iranian crude oil.
While attending the G7 Summit, Donald Trump signed the peace agreement between the United States and Iran at the Versailles Palace. French President Emmanuel Macron posted images of the signing moment on his X account.
