The USA has consumed over half of the air defense missile stocks in the war with Iran, which began almost two months ago, on February 28th. In this context, Ukraine has consistently criticized the use of Patriot missiles for shooting down Iranian drones.
According to an analysis conducted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), published on April 21, the US and its allies used between 1,060 and 1,430 missiles for the Patriot systems, from an initial stock of 2,330, writes Kyiv Independent.
Regarding the ammunition for THAAD, estimates indicate between 190 and 290 missiles launched out of a total of 360.
Ukraine has constantly criticized the fact that the USA uses Patriot missiles to shoot down Iranian Shahed drones. Ukrainian stocks of Patriot missiles, especially those of the PAC-3 MSE type, while Russian drone attacks continue.
In response, Ukrainian developers have created cheaper alternatives for anti-drone defense, including drones specifically designed to intercept other drones.
However, in the face of Russian ballistic missiles, such as Iskander-M or Kinzhal, Ukraine remains dependent on external aid, especially on PAC-3 missiles.
