The only thing that the USA currently offers to Ukraine for free is information from the intelligence services, including coordinates for strikes on Russian positions in Ukraine and on the energy infrastructure on Russian territory. This is being discussed by both American and Ukrainian sources, writes The Atlantic.

According to the publication, the credit for this policy goes to the CIA director, John Ratcliffe, who, according to reports, impresses President Donald Trump on the golf courses with astounding data about Russia’s battlefield losses. These, according to The Atlantic, currently exceed 40,000 per month.

A Western intelligence official explains Ratcliffe’s success by the fact that “Trump doesn’t like losers”. Thus, as long as Ukraine appears to be winning and refutes the common opinion of those who insist it cannot prevail, Trump’s inclination to “shut down the operation and withdraw” weakens.

The US President should also acknowledge the damage that Ukrainian strikes cause to the Russian energy economy. Moscow’s reduction of oil exports could make countries such as India and China more vulnerable to tariffs imposed by Trump. And he, from his first term, has urged Europeans to give up their dependence on Russian oil and gas. The White House chief has gone so far as to impose sanctions against the “Nord Stream” pipeline.

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, refers to the strikes on Russian refineries as “long-range sanctions”. Trump might even consider the bombings as a prelude to negotiations, similar to his approach towards Iran.
