Donald Trump claims he spoke with Vladimir Putin and convinced the Kremlin leader to cease attacks on Ukraine for a week. According to the American president, his counterpart “kindly agreed”.
“I personally asked President Putin not to bomb Kiev and various cities for a week, and he agreed to do this. He was very kind. Many told me: Don’t waste the call, you won’t achieve anything. And yet, he did it,” Donald Trump revealed.
The American leader asserts that he conveyed the request to Putin due to the “extraordinary cold” in the region. The Moscow Times also reported, citing war correspondents, about a possible ceasefire and instructions received by both Russian and Ukrainian soldiers to cease attacks.
On the other hand, journalist Christopher Miller from the Financial Times, specializing in covering events in Ukraine, claims that officials in Kiev would have learned about Putin’s acceptance of the ceasefire from press statements made by Donald Trump.
The correspondent refers to Ukrainian officials and asserts that they are not yet certain of the ceasefire.
