US President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday, March 11, that the war with Iran will end “soon”. At the same time, American and Israeli officials say that strikes against Iran could continue for at least another two weeks.
“A little bit of everything… Whenever I want it to end, it will end,” Trump said in a brief phone call with Axios, on Wednesday. “The war is going very well. We are much further ahead than planned. We have caused more damage than we thought possible, even in the initial six-week period“, he added.
While the president maintains that his war objectives in the Middle East are largely met, Israeli and American officials say they are preparing to continue strikes against Iran for at least another two weeks.
Seven American soldiers were killed after Trump launched strikes on Iran on February 28.
The war raises concerns about costs, after the Pentagon used $5.6 billion worth of ammunition in the first two days. At the same time, oil prices have risen sharply, and gasoline has reached $3.6 per gallon.
