Boris Pistorius, the Defense Minister of Germany, attacked Trump on Tuesday on the topic of the agreement he made with Vladimir Putin for diesel, saying that the decision to sign this agreement shows that the American president is “backed against the wall” ahead of the November elections, reports the German agency DPA, quoted by Agerpres.
“Trump is ‘backed against the wall’ ahead of the midterm elections that will take place at the beginning of November,” said Boris Pistorius during a conference of the German employers’ association, held in Berlin.
History shows that, whenever leaders are under pressure in their countries, they seek an escape through foreign policy, argued the German minister, adding that Trump’s decision will have an unintended effect.
On November 3, the American midterm elections, known as mid-terms, will take place. At that time, the entire House of Representatives will be elected for a new two-year term and a third of the senators. Polls show that Democrats have considerable chances to win both chambers of Congress and they almost certainly have a majority in the House of Representatives.
