The American President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that US administration documents will henceforth use the term “super-intelligence” instead of “artificial intelligence”, and reiterated previous claims that warnings about artificial intelligence are a hoax.
“From now on, all documents of the United States – and, we hope, of the entire world – will be modified to use the much more precise term ‘super’ instead of ‘artificial’. So, it’s about super-intelligence”, Trump said in a speech delivered at the UN General Assembly, reports Agerpres.
“It sounds much better” than artificial intelligence, emphasized the US president in his speech. “It is much more suitable,” he added.
In the industry, the term super-intelligence defines the stage at which AI will surpass human capacities for rationalization and reflection in all fields. According to the general opinion, even the most advanced models are still far from this stage.
For the American president, the expression “artificial intelligence” sounds “as if (this technology) would be fake”, but AI “is not fake”, he argued.
“Welcome to the new world of super-intelligence, of AI“, declared Donald Trump. “We will see if I have any power“, he added, referring to the potential adoption of this neologism by other governments.
