The Donald Trump administration will impose a $15,000 bond on citizens from 50 countries to enter the US. An official from the State Department made the disclosure, under the protection of anonymity.

The expanded bond program will require foreign citizens to pay for a B1 or B2 visa, for business and tourism. The measure will take effect on April 2, reports hotnews.ro. The aim is to prevent visitors from overstaying the period allowed by the visa, said the official.

The new countries included in the visa bond program are Cambodia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Grenada, Lesotho, Mauritius, Mongolia, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Papua New Guinea, Seychelles, and Tunisia.

The other 38 countries are Algeria, Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Botswana, Burundi, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Ivory Coast, Cuba, Djibouti, Dominica, Fiji, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kyrgyzstan, Malawi, Mauritania, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Venezuela, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The official said that the bonds will be returned to visa beneficiaries who return home, respecting the terms of the visa and the bond, as well as those who do not travel at all.
