Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, plan to meet with Vladimir Putin in Saint Petersburg on October 21. The meeting will take place after discussions in Oslo with Vladimir Zelenski.

Witkoff and Kushner are expected to take the next step, to try to demonstrate that the agreements with Putin are beneficial. NYT writes that they are set to negotiate the release of a long-time American detainee in Russia.

The discussion would be about Stephen Hubbard, who fought for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and was sentenced to six years and ten months in prison by the Russian justice system.

On October 20th, Witkoff personally went to Oslo to discuss with Zelenski, writes Meduza. Kushner participated in the online meeting, due to the flu. The Norwegian Prime Minister and the Finnish President joined the meeting.

The leader from Kiev stated before the meetings in Oslo that he had already spoken with the American Secretary of State Marco Rubio and requested missiles for air defense and issues with the connection to the Stralink military system.
