The Ukrainian Parliament voted on Thursday to appoint the director of Nafotgaz, Serghei Koreţki, as Prime Minister. This is the third Prime Minister Ukraine has had since the beginning of the war.
Korețki was praised by parliamentarians for his managerial skills and efficiency. He received the vote of 289 deputies from the Supreme Rada.
Korețki is an engineer and economist, 48 years old, has never held a governmental position before and has no ties with any political party, writes news.ro. He has 20 years of experience in companies dealing with oil production, electricity sales, and finance.
“Today, I assume the responsibilities of Prime Minister of Ukraine with a clear set of priorities. Our main task is to fully equip the Ukrainian Defense Forces and accelerate the expansion of our defense industrial base. We will do everything possible to ensure that Ukrainian soldiers have the necessary capabilities for every long-range operation, every precision strike, and every frontline defense mission, including drones of all types, ground robotic systems, advanced equipment, and modern weapons,” conveyed Koretsky.
Among the priorities outlined by the new head of government was to prepare the country for winter, to ensure the payment of social obligations, to finance essential public services, and to cooperate with international partners. Korețki announced that his country will not change its course towards the European Union.
