Ukraine aims to deploy 25,000 ground robots in the units fighting on the front line against Russia, by the middle of this year. Although the Ukrainian army intends to have 30% of its troops made up of robots by the end of this year, Kiev’s ground drones are already facing a problem related to battlefield communications, reports Euromaidan Press.

Ground robots are increasingly used in combat actions in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski even mentioned that Kiev’s forces have managed, for the first time, to recently capture a position held by Russians exclusively with the help of drones and ground robots.

Overall, Ukrainian terrestrial robots have already carried out over 22,000 combat missions in the first three months of the year.

Only in the month of May, these combat platforms have already carried out 9,000 battle missions, and the strategic objective of Kiev is to transfer the entire logistics process from the battlefield to robots (transportation of food, ammunition, fuel, wounded, etc.).

The effectiveness of these weapons on the front line is however limited by a critical factor – securing communications, stated Serhii Beskrestnov, advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of Defense.
