Ukraine will receive the first tranche of 3.9 billion euros from the European Union’s aid for Kiev, totaling 90 billion euros. The funds transferred on Tuesday are intended for the purchase of drones.

The EU loan was announced at the beginning of this year and provides 60 billion euros for military aid and 30 billion as budget support for the years 2026 and 2027. The funds are intended for the defense sector, in the context of the war triggered by Russia. The EU thus wants to help Ukraine avoid a possible bankruptcy, writes Agerpres.

“These investments will help Ukraine protect its citizens, defend its sovereignty, and strengthen Europe’s security,” stated the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

The head of the European Commission emphasized that Europe will stand firmly with Ukraine, as long as necessary, to achieve a just and lasting peace.
