The Porsche cars of Russian owners have become unusable across the country – amid suspicions of deliberate interference with the satellite signal.
Hundreds of Russian Porsche car owners have reported in recent days that their vehicles have suddenly become unusable, as fears grow over possible deliberate interference with satellite location systems.
Drivers have reported that the cars suddenly locked up, lost power supply, and refused to start. Both owners and service centers are talking about a series of failures that have left hundreds of vehicles immobilized.
The problems affect Porsche models manufactured after 2013, equipped with the VTS security system, an integrated device that uses satellite connectivity. When the connection with this system is lost, the engine is automatically deactivated – a phenomenon described by specialists as “bricking” the vehicle, that is, turning it into a static object.
According to Yulia Trushkova, service director at the Rolf dealer, “all models and all types of engines” have been affected. Sources in Moscow claim that the company does not rule out the possibility of a “deliberate” intervention, suspicions being directed towards the West, but no evidence has been provided in this regard.
