Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Sunday that a Russian minor had been detained over a threat to carry out a terrorist attack in Moscow’s Tsaritsyno Park, following a tip-off from the United States.
“We are grateful to the American side for providing the information,” the security service said in a statement quoted by Interfax.
“The American side informed us of plans for an attack in Moscow (…). The necessary operations are underway,” Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) told the official Russian news agency TASS.
The minor posted photos of himself on TikTok wearing tactical gear and a balaclava, holding what appeared to be an automatic weapon, as well as a photo taken at the Tsaritsyno Museum in Moscow with the caption “I found a place”, the FSB added, according to Interfax.
The Russian security service said that a raid on the minor’s home had uncovered clothing and accessories seen in social media posts, while an examination of his phone revealed that he subscribed to a neo-Nazi channel on the Telegram app and had carried out numerous internet searches relating to terrorist attacks, mass killings and other acts of violence.
Russia’s Investigative Committee is considering what legal or procedural action to take in this case, the FSB said.
